Steve Knott

Chief Executive
Steve Knott has been AMMA's Chief Executive since 1997. On behalf of resource industry employers in Australia, Steve leads AMMA's workforce lobbying efforts to government, opposition and other relevant stakeholders at state and federal government levels.

Steve also leads AMMA's extensive array of employment consulting services, incorporating employment and industrial relations specialists, AMMA's registered training organisation, human resource management consultants, migration agent services and employment survey specialists. These services are provided on a national basis to AMMA's extensive member network of mining, oil and gas and service related companies, from blue chip corporations to small businesses.

Working directly with employers, employees and relevant employee representatives, Steve assiduously advocates for employment legislation that gives employers and employees the freedom to enter into productive enterprise based working arrangements.

Prior to promotion to the Chief Executive role, Steve served two years as AMMA's West Australian manager and one year as Tasmanian AMMA manager. Before joining AMMA, he held senior management positions with the Hydro Electric Commission Tasmania including the roles of employee relations manager and human resources manager.

Steve is a member of the National Workplace Relations Consultative Council, the International Labour Advisory Committee, the Ministerial Advisory Council on Skilled Migration, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's General Council, and holds various other representative roles on behalf of AMMA.

He holds a post graduate diploma in business administration from Monash University and has professional memberships with the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Industrial Relations Society of Victoria, and is also a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute.

Tara Diamond

Executive Director, Industry Services

As AMMA’s Executive Director Industry Services, Tara Diamond holds responsibility for a range of critical services and projects designed to meet the evolving workforce needs of AMMA members spanning the mining, oil and gas, and allied service sectors.

Since joining AMMA in 2011 following broad commercial business and specialist marketing roles with previous employers including Telstra and Vodafone UK, Tara has been instrumental in driving growth across the association.

She now oversees an enthusiastic team to deliver AMMA’s membership and corporate partnership model; media, marketing and communications activities; industry projects; and a full calendar of events including the annual AMMA Resource People National Conference and Industry Awards.

Tara also leads development of AMMA’s national initiative, the Australian Women in Resources Alliance (AWRA), which assists resource employers to build more gender diverse workforces.

Her experience in developing projects to meet the industry’s skills challenges also earned Tara a coveted position on both the Australian Government’s Australian Industry Skills Committee and the Vocational Education Advisory Board, guiding reform and implementation of new national vocational education and training (VET) policies.
